A highly qualified registered midwife who has worked in some of the largest teaching hospitals in Europe. She has extensive experience as a labour ward co-ordinator and as a community midwife, and is now an expert in pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal care with a particular interest in birth trauma.

Lesley featured in the Channel 4 drama documentary One Born Every Minute when she led a team of 12 midwives each nightshift in the delivery suite at Leeds General Infirmary. She also appeared as an expert on 1001 Things You Should Know, hosted by Sandy Toksvig.

Karen trained as a midwife at The University of Leeds and during her career has worked at numerous hospitals in West Yorkshire.

As well as working in the Delivery Suites, Karen was a founding member of the Leeds Homebirth Team, working to support women and helping to develop midwives’ skills in physiological birth.

Her passion lies in homebirths and waterbirths and also supporting women to own their choices in pregnancy and childbirth

Malena initially trained as an adult nurse at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and moved up to Yorkshire become a midwife. She trained at The University of Leeds and worked for the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust for 17 years, then became a community midwife.

She is passionate about providing women with the care and support necessary during their own birth as mothers and believes that the postnatal period is one of the most fragile and magical times in anyone’s life.

She’s an advocate for women’s rights and choices throughout their childbearing experience (and beyond) including breastfeeding and supporting women’s physical and emotional wellbeing through meaningful self-care.

Dr Ferriman (MBChB, FRCOG), is My Expert Midwife’s consultant Obstetrician. She works in the NHS as a full time consultant and also offers care in the private sector.

She is dedicated to providing all her patients with a first class service both within the NHS and in her private practice.

Over 15 years she has developed her practice in obstetrics and antenatal care as well as in fetal medicine.

Dr Ferriman has an expertise in the diagnosis and management of twin and triplet pregnancies; she set up the first multiple pregnancy clinic in Yorkshire in 2004 at Leeds General Infirmary.

Consultant Midwife, trained as a midwife at the University of Leeds and has worked for the last 17 years as an independent midwife in Yorkshire and beyond.

She is very active providing online support to women and helps facilitate local Homebirth support groups.

She is passionate about relationship based midwifery, enabling autonomy in maternity care and positive, self-directed birth.

Her special interest is freebirth.
