No. It is always beneficial to attend the core antenatal class to prepare for and help understand your labour and birth journey but it is not essential to have completed to attend this class.
As experienced midwives and often mothers ourselves, we know all too well how your baby and family’s needs can be prioritised over your recovery after you birth.
This class will focus on how you as a woman can aid healing, promoting rest and recovery for yourself whilst gaining an understanding of what you can expect in those first few hours and days after birth for you emotionally and physically. Your recovery and rest can enormously help you to care for your baby in the best way possible and cannot be underestimated.
Yes and in fact, we would argue that this is a very beneficial class for your birth partner to attend. Just like in labour and birth, your birth partner plays a huge role in your recovery from birth. Being prepared to help care for both you and your baby after birth can be a huge advantage to you both.
