Colostrum harvesting can be started from 37 weeks whether mum is planning breast or formula feed to help give baby the best start.

Perineal massage can be started at 34 weeks to help reduce the extent of tearing or need for an episiotomy in childbirth.

Using essential oils such as frankincense during labour helps women to feel more grounded and relaxed during labour, and can be a useful tool to help regain focus.

Why were these product picked?

Peri Prep Your Bits helps to prepare the perineum to help reduce the incidence of tearing or needing an episiotomy during childbirth. Perineal massage can be practised from 34 weeks and encourages the perineal tissues to be able to stretch more easily during birth.

Colostrum Harvesting Kit provides everything needed to start collecting colostrum which is the first breastmilk produced and contains antibodies, stem cells and specialised infection-fighting cells to give baby the best start when they are born. It can be a great back up plan to use colostrum harvested in pregnancy if breastfeeding takes longer to establish in the early days or if you want to give initially before starting to formula feed.

Marvellous Massaging Stick is ideal throughout pregnancy, especially in the third trimester and for labour to relieve tension and help with relaxation. It is expertly blended, with Frankincense oil, known to calm and ground, geranium oil to relax and shea butter which is hydrating and can help reduce skin inflammation. Developed to be a no mess way to apply and also as a massager itself to apply gentle pressure to areas during pregnancy and labour.

Keep Your Cool is a cooling spray developed to soothe and ease the body when hormones can cause a rise in body temperature during pregnancy. Essential oils peppermint and eucalyptus naturally cool, black pepper and sweet orange to help ease puffiness and aloe helps to soothe the skin.

FAQs

Can I start perineal massage eariler/later than 34 weeks?

The research available is based on women who had undertaken perineal massage from 34 weeks of pregnancy, so there isn’t data on the effects of starting it sooner. If you want to start it sooner it would not be harmful, but equally it may not provide you with any extra benefits.

I'm struggling with perineal massage, please help!

Our blog talks through how to do perineal massage, and we also have an animated video showing you how to do it too

I have some left over what else can I use it for?

It’s ideal for all-over body massage in pregnancy and during labour because of its calming and relaxing ingredients. You can also help to relieve nasal congestion by adding some to hot water or applying it to the skin under your nose.

It says for external use only can I still use it?

The area of skin that will stretch, called the perineum, is external. The oil isn't needed internally, as your vagina is naturally lubricated. You only need to apply Peri Prep Your Bits to those fingers that are massaging and stretching the skin of the perineum. Please refer to the instructions on the label on the bottle for guidance on how to do perineal massage click on our blog below on how to do it.
