Initial:

Your age:
35

What number baby is this for you?
3rd

How long (ish) did it take to you to conceive?
With my first child it took around 4 months, 2nd it was a couple of months and 3rd it took around 6 months.

Did you have any medical conditions prior to pregnancy?
No

Did you have any conditions that developed during your pregnancy (e.g.Pre-eclampsia, Gestational diabetes)?
No but I had the GTT (Glucose Test) every pregnancy, I think it was because I ate a lot of sugary things!!

Did you write birth plan? If so, what birth choices did you hope for?
I was hoping for a water birth 3 times and never did! With my first she was back to back so I had to have an epidural for the pain, 2nd came too quick for the bath to run and 3rd I was induced due to irregular contractions and he was born very quick! It was very scary at the time but the most magical feeling.

What birth did you have?
1st child forceps in theatre, 2nd natural and had stitches due to a small tear, 3rd natural (from a pessary to induce me due to reduced movement on a scan and random contractions) absolutely amazing !

How was your recovery from birth?
With my first I was very sore due to being cut and stitched alot but my 2nd and 3rd was a much quicker recovery. I think that’s also due to knowing that your body does recover really quick.

Do you have any advice or helpful hints or tips that we can share with parents to be?
Enjoy it! Try not to worry- worry is the thief of joy! I wish I had enjoyed my pregnancies more and not worried so much about everything. I also wish I’d have exercised throughout pregnancy more as I personally put on a lot of weight (3/4 stone!!) I did lose it but it would have been easier if I’d have continued. Pregnancy and birth is an absolute miracle. Absolutely amazing and when you also make a midwife friend for life it is even more special ⭐️
