lesley's tip lesley's tip

After your operation, the large abdominal muscles that have supported your growing womb can feel quite sore and tissues which have been cut during the surgery and stitched back together need time to recover and heal.

Make yourself a comfy ‘nest’ – whether it’s your bed, the sofa or a rocking chair, you’ll be spending much time on them resting, feeding and recovering. Make this ‘nest’ cosy and comfortable with plenty of supportive cushions, a heat-pack for ‘after-pains’ or back-ache, and all you’ll need to keep you well: jug of water, snacks, phone charger, books and TV remote.

C-section birth is major abdominal surgery and recovery time can vary from one woman to another. This means that after your C-section you will need to take extra care when moving about and lifting things. Rest, self-care and nourishment are key to recovery and the healing process during this time.
