FAQs
Why do I need a pregnancy supplement if I’m not even pregnant yet?
Our Midwives recommend taking one capsule of our All-In-One Pregnancy Supplements from the moment you decide to try to become pregnant because we know that your fertility can be boosted with a our carefully selected evidence-based essential minerals and vitamins. Preparing for pregnancy is important for both you and your partner to optimise the chance of a successful conception and pregnancy and a healthy baby.
Can’t I get enough minerals and vitamins from my daily food intake?
Even the healthiest of diets need supplementation occasionally and conception, pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum periods are all typical of times when your body places greater demands than your daily nutrition can supply. Some minerals and vitamins are not stored easily in your body and as such need a daily top-up from a dietary supplement. We have worked closely with our partners to ensure you are receiving the highest quality ingredients to supply exactly what you need without anything you don’t.
I have morning sickness and struggle to take supplements, what I can I do?
As Midwives we understand that taking a dietary supplement may not be easy, but our recommendation would be to take the easy-to-swallow, tasteless capsule with a glass of cold water once you have managed to have something to eat, or about 30-60 minutes after taking any anti-sickness medication you might have been prescribed. You may be able to identify a time of day when your nausea or sickness is less so this would be a good time to take it. If you miss a day or two try not to worry and take it when you are next able to.
Are there any supplements to avoid in pregnancy?
Yes, you are advised to avoid Vitamin A in pregnancy (found in liver and liver products such as pate and fish oils). You should also only take the Recommended Daily Advised (RDA) of your supplements which is why we have made it easy for you by putting everything you need and nothing you don’t in our All-In-One one-a-day supplement capsule.
How should I choose a pregnancy supplement?
We would advise that you go with a trusted brand which understands conception, pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum periods as your body has very specific requirements during these times. My Expert Midwife is a trusted and well-established maternity brand and our All-In-One Pregnancy Supplements have been specially developed by our in-house Midwives to meet all of those needs whilst avoiding anything you should avoid.
