lesley's tip lesley's tip

After your operation, the large abdominal muscles that have supported your growing womb can feel quite sore and tissues which have been cut during the surgery and stitched back together need time to recover and heal.

Make yourself a comfy ‘nest’ – whether it’s your bed, the sofa or a rocking chair, you’ll be spending much time on them resting, feeding and recovering. Make this ‘nest’ cosy and comfortable with plenty of supportive cushions, a heat-pack for ‘after-pains’ or back-ache, and all you’ll need to keep you well: jug of water, snacks, phone charger, books and TV remote.

After giving birth by C-section, bruising, swelling and soreness is common. This midwife developed C-section Essentials Collection is a must-have to help aid post birth with your C-section recovery.

Our award winning Spritz for Bits provides instant relief to itching C-section scars, and Soak for Bits is a must have to add to your bath after a C-section birth.  Both are packed with essential oils which have anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties to help soothe swelling, bruising and to clean and protect.

Fantastic Skin Elastic is perfect to massage your C-section scar, once wounds have healed, and has been specially developed to help to soothe and hydrate skin that can become dry and irritable as it heals, as well as improving the appearance and condition of scar tissue through massage.

C-section birth is major abdominal surgery and recovery time can vary from one woman to another. This means that after your C-section you will need to take extra care when moving about and lifting things. Rest, self-care and nourishment are key to recovery and the healing process during this time.

How can I use it?

How can I use it?

  • Spritz for Bits – spray directly on to C-section scar or spray onto a clean tissue and apply over stitches
  • Soak for Bits - once your dressing has been removed and your C-section wound is undergoing the normal healing process add 2-3 handfuls of the salts into a warm but not too hot bath and soak for 10 minutes to relax tired muscles.
  • Super Scar Recovery Oil - once wounds have healed try to massage your scar daily. Massage in a circular motion, pressing firmly enough to apply pressure but not so it is painful. Work your way around the scar slowly with a firm pressure. Keep on massaging using your fingers along and around the scar in both directions.
  • Prioritising 30 minutes a day for your recovery is a necessity not a luxury, talk to your partner or support network so they can help you to recover.
Relief for soreness, bruising, swelling and scar recovery after childbirth

Relief for soreness, bruising, swelling and scar recovery after childbirth

During the first few weeks after the birth, once the dressing has been removed and normal wound healing is taking place, you can use Spritz for Bits to provide instant relief for itchy C-section scars. Use Spritz for Bits to help relieve soreness and itchiness during your daily wound care routine.

Soak for Bits is a must have to add to your bath after childbirth whether you are recovering from a vaginal or C-section birth. A regular self-care routine including a relaxing bath can contribute to both your physical and emotional recovery after childbirth. Both products are packed with essential oils which have anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties to help soothe swelling, bruising and to clean and protect.

Once your wound is considered well healed, usually around six weeks post birth, our Super Scar Recovery Oil is perfect to massage your C-section scar. It has been specially developed to help improve the appearance and condition of scar tissue through massage. As scar tissue tends to develop slowly, a regular routine of self-massage can help to improve the appearance and mobility of both external and internal scar tissue after your C-section.
